How Niacin Works
Niaspan works to lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and triglycerides, while also raising HDL (“good”) cholesterol. Niacin, also known as nicotinic acid, is a B vitamin which is naturally occurring in plants and animals and is present in a variety of multi-vitamin supplements. Apart from lowering cholesterol and triglycerides, Niaspan is also used to lower the risk of heart attack in individuals with a history of heart attacks and high cholesterol. Additionally, it is also at times used to treat coronary artery disease.
Generic Niaspan vs Brand Niaspan
The brand Niaspan and the generic Niacin are chemically and therapeutically exactly the same, the only difference is the manufacturer. We currently have the brand from Canada and the generic from India. It may come from other countries around the world.

It is better to err on the side of caution and contact your doctor if you feel like this product may be having adverse effects on you and your health.
Prior to taking Niaspan, be sure to tell your doctor about all other medications you are currently taking, but especially any cholesterol-lowering drugs such as atorvastatin, (Lipitor), pravastatin (Pravachol), or simvastatin (Zocor). Additionally, it is imperative to tell your doctor if you are using blood thinners, blood pressure or heart medications, multivitamins or mineral supplements that may contain niacin.
