How Nuvaring Works
Nuvaring is a form of contraception. It is a soft, flexible, plastic ring that releases a combination of contraceptive hormones called progestin and estrogen. Nuvaing is different from the pill in the fact that it is inserted into the vagina where it remains for 3 weeks, followed by one ring-free week (which is when you will ovulate). The ring is held in place by the walls of the vagina. Once inserted the hormones are absorbed and distributed into your bloodstream, preventing a mature egg from being produced. After the seven-day break you insert a new ring. When used as directed Nuvaring is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy.
