Pepcid
Information
Pepcid (Femotidine) is a histamine-2 blocker, which works as it is able to decrease the levels of acid, which your stomach can produce. The medication is used commonly today to help both treat and prevent ulcers within the stomach or the intestines. It can also be used to help treat conditions which mean that the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pepcid can also help to treat the effects of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions which may cause severe heartburn. You should not use Pepcid if you are known to be allergic to any of the active ingredients used during manufactures, as this may cause a severe allergic reaction within your body. Pepcid is available in generic form only.

Pepcid
Side Effects
Easy bruising, pounding heartbeats, confusion, hallucinations, numbness, tingling, jaundice or seizures are all side effects which have been associated with the use of Pepcid. It is important that if you do encounter any of these side effects, that you monitor them constantly and also report to your doctor as soon as possible. Other less serious side effects of Pepcid include Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness, headaches and also muscle cramps or joint pains.
Whilst using Pepcid you should avoid drinking and consuming alcohol as this can increase the risk of damage to your stomach. It is also advised that you should avoid taking cimetidine (Tagamet), ranitidine (Zantac), or nizatidine (Axid) whilst you are using Pepcid, unless you have been instructed to from your doctor.
There may be other medications which interfere with Pepcid, and it is important that you inform your doctor of any other medications that you currently take, this includes all over the counter drugs and all other prescription medications.
The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.
