How Venlafaxine Works
Effexor (venlafaxine) is used to treat depression. It works on the central nervous system to elevate mood in people with depression. It also works to treat the symptoms of anxiety causing distress in general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and panic disorder. Patients may start to see an improvement within 2 weeks of starting treatment but it may take several weeks before the full effects of this medication are felt.
