How Heartgard Dog Works
Heartgard Plus is used in the prevention of heartworm infection and the control and treatment of various other worm infections. Heartgard contains the active ingredient Ivermectin; it works against canine heartworm disease; it does so by attacking the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis). It is imperative that your dog chews this product, as opposed to swallowing it whole. If your dog generally swallows treats whole, Heartgard may be broken into pieces.
