How Bimatoprost Works
Used to treat particular types of glaucoma, intraocular pressure (IOP), Bimatoprost Ophthalmic works by encouraging the drainage of fluid from the eye. In individuals with a condition known as hypotrichosis, Lumigan is also used to improve the fullness, length, and colour of the eyelashes.

Lumigan eye drops may be administered using the following steps:
• Gently press a finger to the inside corner of the eye (close to the nose) for approx. 1 minute to keep liquid from draining into the tear duct.
• Hold the Lumigan dropper above the eye with the dropper tip down
• Look up and away from the dropper
• Pull down on the lower eyelid (creating a small pocket)
• Squeeze out a drop and close your eye
• Tilt your head back

If you have been instructed by a doctor or pharmacist to administer more than 1 drop to the same eye, make sure to wait at least 5 minutes before putting in another drop. Always use all medication exactly as prescribed by a medical professional.

Bimatoprost Possible Side Effects

Bimatoprost Guidelines
Before taking Lumigan, consult with a medical professional to go over all precautions and important information surrounding this product. Please do not use Lumigan while wearing contact lenses - there is a preservative in the medication that may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. Before putting contact lenses in, wait at least 15 minutes. It has been noted that Lumigan may cause a change in the colour of your eyes or eyelids and lashes, as well as an increased growth/thickness of the eyelashes over time. It may take months or years for these changes to be evident. These changes can be permanent, even after your treatment with Lumigan ends. Be careful not to allow the Lumigan dropper to come into contact with any surface - eyes or hands included. Contamination of the dropper can lead to infection which could lead to serious damage of the eye including permanent vision loss. If, at any time during your treatment with Lumigan, you sustain an eye injury, develop an eye infection, or have an eye surgery scheduled, tell your doctor. If the eye drops in the liquid change colour, or contain particles, discontinue use.
