How Loteprednol etabonate Works
Alrex eye drops is used for the short-term relief of signs and symptoms (itching and redness in the eye) of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis due to pollens. Loteprednol etabonate drops is a corticosteriod. It acts by reducing inflammation and eases the symptoms (itching and redness) of allergic conjunctivitis due to pollens. The gel form of loteprednol ophthalmic is used to treat pain and swelling after eye surgery. Alrex should not be used if you are under 18 years of age.
Loteprednol etabonate Possible side effects
Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you experience side effects and they are severe and bothersome. Most of the side effect are manageable and may go away on their own. Some of the common side effects include:
• Blurred or abnormal vision;
• Burning when putting drops in the eye or at any time while on the medication;
• Floaters in the eye;

Loteprednol etabonate Guidelines
Do not use Alrex drops if you: are allergic to loteprednol or any ingredient contained in Alrex or if you are allergic to any other corticosteroid, have eye diseases caused by viruses (such as herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella), or caused by bacteria or a fungus, or if you think you have any other eye infection, are pregnant, breastfeeding, are under 18 years of age or have had glaucoma. Before you begin to take it, talk to your doctor if you about the risks and benefits of using Loteprednol etabonate. If redness or itching becomes aggravated or if signs and symptoms fail to improve after two days, consult a physician. Make sure to tell your doctor about any prescription and over-the-counter medications you are taking. Drugs that may interact with Alrex include medicines taken to control the ocular pressure.
