How Clopidogrel Works
Clopidogrel is the active ingredient in Plavix and generic Plavix. It is used by people who have already suffered a heart attack or stroke to reduce the risk of blood clots. It is a heart medication that works by prohibiting certain blood cells called platelets from sticking together to create unwanted blood clots which is the cause of most heart attacks and strokes. Clopidogrel is also prescribed to patients who have been diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), also known as poor circulation in the legs
Generic Clopidogrel vs Brand Plavix
The most significant difference between generic Plavix and brand Plavix is that the brand Plavix is manufactured by Sanofi Aventis while the generic Clopidogrel Bisulfate is manufactured by a different manufacturer (Cipla). Generic Clopidogrel Bisulfate is chemically and therapeutically identical to the brand; Meaning, that the generic Clopidogrel Bisulfate is the exact same in chemical composition and the same potency as the brand. The generic metabolizes the same way within the body thus creating the exact same results. Blue Sky Drugs is leading the way in generic prescription and generic non-prescription drugs.
