How Cyclosporine Works
An immunosuppressive agent, Restasis (generic name: cyclosporine) is used to treat individuals who experience chronic dry eyes, and to reduce inflammation in the eyes. It is imperative that you do not allow the Restasis dropper to come into contact with any surface including your eyes or hands, as this can result in it becoming unsterile and potentially cause an infection in your eye(s). Restasis is not to be used while wearing contact lenses, but you may reinsert them 15 minutes after administration of the medication, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise.

1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
2. Gently turning the bottle upside down, look for a consistently white mixture in the bottle to appear.
3. Tilting your head back slightly, pull down on your lower eyelid.
4. Positioning the dropper above your eye, and looking up and away from the dropper, squeeze out one drop and close your eye.
5. Repeat the process in other eye if directed.

Restasis is to be used twice a day, with approximate twelve hour intervals between treatments. Restasis come in one dosage bottles - discard any remaining medication after treatment. If you are using artificial tears in conjunction with Restasis, allow for 15 minutes between using each product. Restasis must be stored, securely capped, away from moisture and heat and at room temperature.
